One hundred years ago yesterday, on November 25, 1915, Albert Einstein published his final equations on the topic of General Relativity. In celebration, I’d like to share with you some of my favourite tributes posted this week!
The New Yorker posted several articles that explore the life and time of Einstein. My favourite is The Space Doctor’s Big Idea written using only the 1000 most common English words by xkcd author Randall Munroe.

Another cool article was posted by NASA: Where Alice in Wonderland Meets Albert Einstein. It describes how gravitational lensing, a key result of Einstein’s theory gives astronomers the ability to study extremely distant galaxies that would otherwise be unreachable with even our most powerful telescopes. A very visual example of this phenomenon can be seen in images of the
Cheshire Cat group of galaxies. It just so happens that Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was published 150 years ago today, November 26, 1865!
If you don’t have time to read, but you still want to know what all the hype is about, this video posted by the Albert Einstein YouTube channel gives a fun and entertaining description of the theory of General Relativity. Enjoy!
